Moody’s completed their 46th successful year of serving the water supply industry in the Ohio River Valley Region. Although the poor economy reduced the overall sales of the company, we were able to continue to serve many existing systems. The well rehabilitation and pump repair/retrofit part of our business was especially strong. The new construction, turn key project and environmental restoration were down relative to the previous ten years.

We completed the restoration of one of our large cable tool cyclone 45 wellcleaning rigs into a truck mounted unit from a trailer mounted unit. The truck mounted rig is equipped with hydraulic jacks to greatly increase the efficiency in moving and setting up the rig. We also purchased a 375 CFM air compressor to use with this rig for large diameter well rehabilitation.

The last quarter of 2009 Moody’s of Dayton was successful in obtaining two large turnkey projects for public water systems in Southeast Ohio. One project will provide 5 new well pump and motors, soft start starters, electrical generator for standby power, piping and valves to distribute up to 3.0 mg of water per day. A second project includes a new 24” well, pump, motor, piping and electric service to provide a 200 gpm water supply for a small community in Southern Ohio.

A large well rehabilitation project in Southwest Ohio was near completion last year where over 10 wells and pumps were rehabilitated and replaced. This doubled the productivity of each individual well and pump serviced.

Moody’s also completed work in the last quarter on a large 3000 gpm well which will supply cool ground water to 800 ton condensers which will provide all of the cooling for a new 9 story building. This eliminates the need for a cooling tower and reduces exposure to chemicals, air pollution and provides lower operating costs.
